Computer Basics

New to computers? Let us help you get started with this class. Students will learn the basics of computer hardware and software, as well as mouse and keyboard.  At the end of the class students will be able to use the mouse, identify hardware components and turn computers on and off.
Prerequisite: New computer user or minimal skills.  

Keyboard Basics

Want more hands on experience with the keyboard? In this class students will learn about the various keys on the computer keyboard, type sentences and edit information.
Prerequisite: Computer Basics or mouse skills.

File Management

Having trouble finding your saved files?  At the end of this class students will know how to navigate Windows Explorer, create folders and select and move files.
Prerequisite: Computer Basics or mouse skills.

Internet Basics 

Students will be introduced to the basic elements of a webpage in this class. Students will learn how to navigate through the World Wide Web as well as how to find, evaluate and print information found on the Internet. This class will also include a brief introduction to search engines and internet safety.
Prerequisites: Computer Basics or knowledge of mouse and keyboard.

Internet Safety

In our internet safety course students will understand how to protect themselves from common threats including Viruses, Phishing scams, Trojans, Spyware, and internet fraud. Learn which websites are safe, how to shop safely online, and your free protection options.
Prerequisite: Internet Basics.  

Word Basics

This is an introductory course to Microsoft Word. Students will learn how to use the Ribbon to open and save documents; format fonts; cut, copy & paste and much more!
Prerequisites: Computer Basics or knowledge of mouse and keyboard.

Email Basics 

In this class students will use a web-based email and learn how to send, receive, reply, forward, delete and organize email messages.
Prerequisites: Internet Basics or equivalent skills.

Excel Basics

This class is an introduction to Microsoft Excel. Students will learn how to create a basic spreadsheet in Excel. Topics include editing and moving data, formatting cells, creating columns, building formulas and functions, printing and saving workbooks.
Prerequisites: Word Basics or equivalent skills.

PowerPoint Basics

Learn how to create a simple slide show using Microsoft PowerPoint. Topics include entering text, inserting slides and clip art, applying themes, adding animation and transitions, viewing the slide show and printing.
Prerequisite: Word Basics or equivalent skills.

Publisher Basics

Introductory course to Microsoft Publisher. Students will learn to create a flyer using the features of Publisher.
Prerequisites: Word Basics or equivalent skills.

Individual Instruction and Tech Time 

In addition to classroom courses, we offer instruction by appointment and technology drop-in sessions known as Tech Time. Both of these sessions give students the opportunity to learn on their own devices (laptops, eReaders, smartphones, etc.) or other skills not included in our current curriculum.
